Since its founding in 2006, the Biodiversity Heritage Library has been a part of the information revolution. Against a backdrop of institutional capacity constraints, BHL’s vibrant community of committed partners has built the world’s largest biodiversity library making the historic literature from our most venerated and treasured natural history institutions relevant, accessible, and useful. Over 61 million pages have been liberated from the physical shelves and rare book vaults of BHL’s partner network.
Complementing BHL’s massive global digitization operation, technical milestones have been centered on serving core users and expanding access to BHL images and data.
